30 Day Challenge: Day 8 & 9

Sit upHappy Memorial Day! Despite having to work today, I am happy to say today was a great day to work out. When I began this challenge, I knew there may be portions of it that I may have to break up into multiple sets of smaller reps. Fortunately, the only one I am having to do this with so far is just sit ups. Truth is, my core is weak and I’m stuck at 20 – 25 sit ups at a time. My goal is to keep trying to push how many I can do in one set, but I refuse to let this struggle bring me down.

As I’ve progressed through this, I have found myself wishing I had chosen to push certain things harder than what I found during my original research into 30 day challenges. For example, when I was considering adding jumping rope, I found some challenges that used skips and some that used time limits. Though 300 skips (today’s jump rope challenge) seems like a lot, it really doesn’t seem to be much of a challenge for me. Also, I have found wishing I was doing more with the planks, mountain climbers, tricep dips, crunches and leg lifts. It may seem odd that I didn’t add push ups into that list, but I have trouble doing a lot of those because of an old break in my left elbow from childhood. At the very least, this gives me an idea of how to structure my next thirty days after this challenge is over.
