The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap for the week before, showcase books and things we have received, etc.
This past week was my first week back to subbing in my local area. I haven’t subbed outside my son’s chartered school in over a year, with the exception of the one day before Thanksgiving. It’s been a heck of a week. Once again, I was fortunate enough to work in the autism unit, but I experienced a lot of bumps and bruises throughout the week. On Monday, I got head-butted in the back of the head. It wasn’t intentional, but it took nearly a week to get my head back to feeling okay. What didn’t help is that on Wednesday, I got head-butted in the nose. Fortunately, my nose and my head is fine. However, I have learned that I’m going to have to be more mindful to where my head is and how to move it out of the way quicker.
On Monday, my son got to go to a Stuffed Animal Sleepover event at our local library. I was worried that he may be too old for this kind of event, but he really had fun. The kids got to play with their stuffed animals, sing songs, and read stories before leaving the stuffed animals at the library for their sleepover. We were able to pick up Cam’s stuffed animals on Tuesday and they had a set of photographs of their fun at the library after everyone was gone! It was a cute little experience and I’m glad my son was able to do it before he gets too old.
We had a snow day on Thursday and it was nice to just be able to be lazy at home with my son. We spent the day watching the three The Santa Clause movies. I wish we would have gone out to play in the snow, but my head was still feeling all wonky from my accidents. But it was the first time that I could just curl up and watch a movie with my son. No assignments or work was looming over my head. I could just relax.
It also happened to be the day that I got called in to interview for the teacher’s assistant position in the autism unit! My interview is tomorrow and I’m so excited and I hope I get this job. It would make my last semester better because I wouldn’t need a second job to survive.
Speaking of school, a professor of mine told me last month that I was nominated to receive secret Santa gifts for my son. On Friday, we were able to go pick up his gifts and I’m so touched by their generosity and efforts to help make his Christmas special. My education family is extremely kind and I have been so privilege to have them help me as I try to change my life and finally find a career.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that this week is full of great books!
All book covers are linked to my personal review of the book or it’s Goodreads or Amazon page.
I’m a bit behind on reviews, so here’s the ones that will be coming out soon:
