It’s been about two weeks since I decided to get back into the book review and blogs. I’ve been trying to take it slow because I know that I just suddenly dropped off the face of the blog. Truth is, I wish I hadn’t had to disappear over the past seven or eight months. I love reading and blogging about books. I do it for fun, because if I’m doing it for money, I’m doing it wrong. I think I’ve made a total of $1.50 in my Amazon affiliates account in nearly two years.
Things are starting to wind down for me now that my semester is coming to an end. I have two more days of student teaching and one more paper to finish. Then I am finished until the middle of January. So I decided to spend some time cleaning things up and trying to figure out where I left off. Boy, was I in for a HUGE surprise when I just tried to tackle my inbox for this blog. Although I’ve already deleted 20,000 e-mails, I still have over 15,000 more to go through or remove. Many of these are notifications for blogs I follow or even for my own blog. Apparently, I wasn’t keeping on top of my e-mail as well as I thought I was last year.
Under the masses of e-mails, I found dozens of missed contacts from authors, blog tour companies, publishers, and other bloggers. I’m not sure how I missed so many, but I’m determined not to miss so many this time around. I have spent hours removing all of the emails from my account and I have adjusted my notifications so that I will not get so many from just my own blog.
I will be doing ARCs. However, I’m still in graduate school and I don’t want to get so overloaded like I did last spring. I don’t know how many I will do each month. But I will try to be better at responding to the requests.
If you do blog tours, blog blitzes, cover reveals and you contact me, I will be more than happy to post those kinds of promotional posts as long as you are willing to provide the content for it.
If you are a fellow blogger and I’ve missed a comment or contact in the past, I apologize. I love connecting with other bookworms and I don’t usually meet a lot of you in real life. I also apologize because I never have enough time to read all of your posts or reviews. I will do my best to try and visit a few of you each week, because I’m curious to see how things are going and what you’ve been reading.
I’m going to take things slow and steady. One blog at a time. One book at a time. Please be patient with me.
