This Week’s Question:

Do you have books stacked in every room of your house or are you strictly a believer that books belong on bookshelves?

I’m a firm believer in bookshelves and all of mine are currently busting at the gills. The only time I have stacks of books floating around my house is when I am dusting or if I go crazy at the library book sale or something like that. Currently we have seven bookcases in our house and a shelving unit I have houses some of my biggest books, as well as other things. All of my books are organized in a way that’s only obvious to me. So I have my one that features all of my signed or favorite hard covers. One that’s strictly for all of the books I read as a child. I have one where I’ve read all of the books but need to reread so I can do my reviews for them… and one where I haven’t read the book or at the very least haven’t finished it. My son has two in his room, one for all of his movies and one for all of his books. And the rest are filled with books I have read and never know when I’m getting back to them.

I guess you can say I find bookcases to be great for multi-use. I keep all sorts of extras in the ones in my living room. I’ve been trying to be more decorative with the bookcases lately, but that mean I need at least one more large one to help clear out some space in my smaller ones. So we’ll see how that turns out, whenever I get around to it.

What about you guys? Hope you have a greet week!

  1. You are like me…my shelves are organized only according to how I understand the arrangement. 🙂

Terrific answer. Most of my books are on shelves except for a few overflowing ones that I have in bins.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

    Happy Hopping!!

    • Do you do the whole paperback to hardback arrangement? It drives me nuts but if I can I have them arranged largest hardback to smallest hardback and then the same for paperbacks. And of course those that are the same size are alphabetized.

  2. I had things under control for so long. I mean yes they were packed but they were atleast in an actual bookcase but then something happened and I’m cramming them everywhere!

    • LMAO! I get how it happens. I just have the bad habit of always traveling to the furniture section to look at bookcases every time I am at the store. So I’ll get a bookcase, even out my books and then have a massive book spree which fills them all to the gills. Typically it’s the local library’s $1 bag day during their book sale.

  3. My bookshelves are a little full too. I have big ideas of using some of my shelf space for decorative purposes, but I have too many books. Haha. I like to have my books on bookcases too and have done my best to keep my book population at a more reasonable number than I used to. It helps not having the money to spend on them like I used to. I wish I could keep my books organized. Or rather, I wish I could keep my daughter’s books organized. Her shelves are a mess. I guess it’s a good sign though–the books are always on and off the shelves being read.

  4. There are never too many books. Just too few bookshelves.
