Sunday Post #26 – Book Overload

Sunday Post Meme

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap for the week before, showcase books and things we have received, etc.

Overall I had a really good week. I had an interview at my son’s school to become a group mentor and though it’s part time for now, it’ll be full time during the summer and gives me the opportunity to become a teacher’s aide next fall. Also, I’m looking into becoming a substitute teacher. One of the districts had wanted me a few years ago, but my son’s issues at one of their schools kept me from pursuing that at the time. So things are looking up for us.

I buckled down on trying to catch up on some of the reviews I owe this week. I managed to get two of the done, but since I also read several other ebooks in such a short period of time, I’ve been paying the price ever since. I have to get use to what is going to be the new normal for me. I think it’s safe to say I need to stick to reading at least one regular book or taking a complete day off between ebooks. As it stands, four in a matter of a few days triggered my migraines again. But I’m doing okay. I have a library book I need to read before my book club meets on Tuesday, so that and the last few days of reading regular books has helped to clear up most of my migraine issues.

Is anyone planning on going to see Allegiant in two weeks? I’m kind of torn because as much as I enjoyed the book series, I’m a bit iffy about how far off the series has gone from the books. But I suppose that’s a common thing with us bookworms, right? If it doesn’t follow the book exactly, then we get angry… or not really, but we get grumpy.

All book covers are linked to my personal review of the book or it’s Goodreads or Amazon page.

Last Weeks PostsI did better than I thought, but I need to continue to space out all of my ebooks. Pushing through four books back to back really hurt my eyes this week.

What to Expect

I have to get my monthly book club book out of the way. Other than that, here’s my (general) upcoming TBR list in no particular order:

Darkest Dawn In the Unlikely Event Daughter of Shadow Nowhere Girl

Parasite Can You Keep A Secret

Library LootThis week’s loot from the library is fairly light. As mentioned in previous posts, I’ve been waiting for NYPD Red 4 to come in and it finally did. But I also decided to start rewatching one of my shows that is in its final season, Lost Girl. The thing about this particular series is the fact the world of fae include every mythological creature that mankind has ever imagined… Read More

I have one new book from Netgalley this week. I know, I know. I should really stop requesting books. But I couldn’t resist. Anyway, you can expect to see this book review in the future:

Stacking the Shelves

I found some really interesting books at Dollar General this week. I didn’t realize until I saw it, but I don’t own a copy of The Longest Ride. So I went back the next day and scoped it up. After all, it was a hardcover copy for only $3! Hopefully, I’ll be able to get around to reading the other two books eventually. But let’s face it, I am drowning in books.

  1. OOh nice haul! Hope you enjoy them!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. I’m glad the job situation seems to be working out for you 🙂

I’m probably going to see the movie, although I don’t have very high hopes for it. But I read the books, and saw the first two, so I gotta see it, ya know? lol I’m hoping they don’t do any ridiculous plot changes, like with Insurgent -_-

    Here is my Sunday Post

    • That’s kind of how I feel. I may drag my little guy to go see it for $3 the weekend it comes out. Or I might just wait until it makes it to the $1 theater. But like you, I just gotta finish what I started. It’s why I get so stuck in series! It’s such a bad habit!

      • Wait, it costs you THREE dollars to see a movie ?! I’m jealous. It costs 12-15$ here!

      • Our main theater is more expensive depending on the time of day and if it’s regular, XD, or 3D. But there’s a theater the next town over that has them for $3.25 before 4 pm. We also have a $1-ish theater, but those are movies that were out a few months ago.

  3. The mentoring job sounds like such a good option for you! I am glad that some opportunities have opened up. As for the migraines, no bueno! I hope you have a good week!

  4. Yay for the job opportunity! I hope it works out. And may i ask what kind of e-reader you have? I have an e-ink e-reader and it reads like paper, but my ipad I can only read for a limited time as else it hurts my eyes.
I don’t think ll watch the allegiant movie as I don’t watch a lot of book to movies adaptations and haven’t read Allegiant yet, but I did read the first two books. I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • Aww! Thanks! I just got a new Kindle Fire. I was reading on my phone because my tablet broke. But ever since my accident reading ebooks has been a bit of a struggle for me, regardless of which device I use.
