It’s not often that I find a book I am willing to recommend to others as a must read. But for those moments when I do, I really want to go out of my way to recommend them to fellow bookworms who may be in need of something new to read. My choices always come those books that receive four or five stars from the month prior. For the past few weeks, you guys have been voting for which book should be featured. There were a lot of fantastic books up for this feature and there were so many of you who clearly loved several of them. I’m pleased to share that this month’s featured book is The Mine by John A. Heldt.
When John contacted me to review his book, I was still really new to author requests and I was extremely excited to be given the opportunity to what seemed might be a great book. But the thing is, as good as a cover looks or a description reads, it’s not until you get into the core of the book that you realize how much you love or hate a book. For me, it’s the bare bones of this book that helped to pull at my heart strings. In one hand, it’s a love story, one that can make even the biggest cynic (i.e. me) a softy. But in the other, it’s also a lot like a ticking time bomb. Where you know the story is leading up to one of the most tragic days in history and yet, there’s nothing the main character can do to stop any of it. All he can do is risk altering the course of history by changing things, but in the end, you discover his fate is just as tied to the past as his future. It’s a phenomenal read and I hope you all will make it a point to not only add this to your to be read list, but actually make it a point to read it as soon as you get a chance.

Sometimes when you pick up a book, you never really know where it’s going to take you. Will you struggle for weeks to stumble through the chapters? Or will you find yourself so captivated, that you wind up staying up all night long, internally fighting the urge to go to bed, so you can see what happens next. For me, this book is the latter. I was captivated by the story and wound up staying up until 3 AM just so I could read it…. Read More
