Sunday Post #18 – Clearing Out the Excess

Sunday Post Meme

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap for the week before, showcase books and things we have received, etc.

I am so excited that I was able to make some headway on my hold list from the library. After getting so many Fear Street novels at once, I was surprised to see several still on my list. As I investigated into the matter, I realized that several of them had been marked as missing or never returned years ago. So instead of leaving the requests up, I cleared them out. Even though they were never going to come through, it was always stressing me out to get on and see so many things on hold while I still have so many books out. Now, I know what you’re thinking. It is my fault that I had so many books on hold or that I still have 45 books/dvds/audiobooks still out. But now that my hold list is down to just a few, I feel better as I go onto the site. I’ve been working my way through my library books and hopefully after a week off, I’ll get back to finishing off the Fear Street novels I checked out. But trust me, I need the break. I never realized how quickly I could burn out on a series, especially when the books are so quick and easy to read.

I’m still making progress on my Coyer challenge and I’m happy to report I’ve read nine of the twenty books I pledged to do. This is great because I still have until March and I have seven e-books to read before the end of this month. It was a slow week on other kinds of posts. I’m not sure what happened, but with all the migraines I’ve been having lately, I’ve just been out of sorts lately. I’m going to try and get a lot of extra posts scheduled while I’m still feeling okay at the moment. So expect more this week. Hope you guys are having a great week!

All book covers are linked to my personal review of the book or it’s Goodreads or Amazon page.

Last Weeks PostsThanks to my concussion, I had trouble with ebooks this week. My head has been bothering me something fierce and it makes it hard to concentrate on the screen for a long period of time. This causes a migraine and then I’m down for the night. COYER Update: Week 3

What to Expect

I’m sure I’ll probably grab a few things that aren’t listed here, but here’s my (general) upcoming TBR list in no particular order:

New RulesThe Vampire LestatParasiteDownward Facing Death

Library LootIt’s been a slow week for library books. Which is perfectly fine with me since I currently have 46 books/audiobooks/dvds checked out. Even better, I managed to get my hold list down to three items: a DVD for my son, a book and an e-book for me. As much as I enjoy my library, I need a break from all of the Fear Street books and this will allow me time to focus on some of my other books, as opposed to devouring Fear Street book after Fear Street book… Read More on Checking Out the Library

  1. Oooh very nice! My sister used to have a lot of the Babysitter’s Club books, but I don’t know if we still have them.

Hope you enjoy all your awesome new reads!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. I inherited a set of Babysitter’s Club from an older cousin when she cleaned out her room before going to university. I loved them, had probably 100+. I loved the idea of the Club so much as a kid. 😀

    • Me, too! I always wanted to start my own club, but by the time I was old enough, I was far too old for the books and had long since forgotten about wanting to start one.

  3. I definitely understand how logging in and seeing such a long list is overwhelming! If the books have been lost/missing for a full calendar year, the library should remove it from their catalog. That just doesn’t make sense to me. No wonder it was so daunting seeing your list wasn’t dwindling! I’m surprised your library allows so many items for checkout! I don’t think any around here would let more than 10 items go at one time. I got a little burnt out after reading the most recent books in the Frankie Dupont series. I didn’t read for two weeks! Happy reading!

    • The whole library should remove them from the list thing, is exactly what I was saying to myself as I was seeing some of these dates. There was one that was reported as missing in 2010! Oh I love my library. We can have up to 50 items out at a time (my librarians let me have more if I accidentally get too many at once). Some of the books are for my son, all of the DVDs are his. I probably have about 20+ books checked out? Half of which are the Fear Street books that popped up on me the past few weeks. It’ll just teach me to stop putting books on hold until I’m ready for more.

  4. I hope your head is feeling better soon. Having to deal with a concussion is not fun at all. 😦 You are doing great with COYER so far! Have a great year!

    • Thanks! It’s coming and going. So hopefully this means it’ll eventually be gone for good. And thanks! I’m glad I’ve been able to get through so many of them lately.

  5. Girl, you read insanely fast! I’ve read 2 books this year so far! Sheesh. haha

Here is my The Sunday Post!

    • You can’t count half of my list! Fear Street books take me about an hour to an hour and a half max. Plus I’m sure you have other things to focus on besides books. I, on the other hand, have nothing else but my blog and books at the moment. Once I can get cleared, I can go back to working out and other stuff. For now, it’s me and my stockpile of books. 😛

  6. I’ve had quite a few headaches lately too, but I think my body was having trouble transitioning to eating healthier and not staying up late and getting up earlier after the holidays last week, so I’m hoping this week that I’ve finally adjusted. Enjoy your library books and the rest of your haul!

    My Weekly Update

  7. I’ve got 172 Hours sitting on a shelf. I need to get to reading it! Looks like a great haul!
