Sunday Post #15 – Deck the Halls

Sunday Post Meme

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap for the week before, showcase books and things we have received, etc.

It’s been another long week for me. But I’m working on getting better and hopefully will be able to return to my job after the New Year. My symptoms are still coming in waves and sometimes it can be really difficult to want to do anything besides close my eyes and sleep it all away. But my doctor has allowed me to work on light duty, so my temp office will let me do some work for them until I’m well enough to go back to work full time. Can I just say, this whole thing has been eye-opening. In light of the movie Concussion coming out and my current situation, I have to say I don’t ever want my son to play football. If one smack to the head can leave me still fighting bouts of severe head pressure, nausea and unable to stand the sounds of an office because it’s too much stimulation, I can’t imagine what those players go through with all of their concussions. It’s amazing how much one accident can really affect you.

I managed to get through quite a bit this week and even as I’m writing this now, I’m halfway done with my next book and a third of the way through one of my final books for my reading challenge. Reading has been a good escape for me this week. Especially the Under the Dome audiobook. I spent countless hours in a nearly dark room and it was that book that helped keep me focused on something and from going a bit stir crazy.

It’ll be a short work week for me, what with Christmas just a few days away. I have several books I plan on trying to get through. But I still want to continue cycling through my list. I’ve been trying to do one Netgalley/author request book, one library book and one of my own books or rereads. I haven’t been perfect at maintaining this pattern, but at least I’m trying to make a dent in some of my lists before the end of the year.

I hope you all have a great week!

All book covers are linked to my personal review of the book or it’s Goodreads or Amazon page.

Last Weeks PostsThanks to my concussion, I haven’t been able to do much of anything but sleep and read. It helped me get some books read. Seven in total. So all in all, it’s been a busy reading week. Here are the reviews and posts from this week:

What to Expect

I’m sure I’ll probably grab a few things that aren’t listed here, but here’s my (general) upcoming TBR list in no particular order:

Library LootAs the end of the year nears, I find my hold list at the library is slowly shrinking. As of right now, I have a total of five holds left. But I don’t have an issue with this. For one, let’s face it, my TBR list is out of control, so I won’t have any trouble finding books to request. Of course, there’s also my childhood rereads, the books in my house that I’ve never read or need to reread and of course… Read More on Checking Out the Library

ARC CornerNo new Netgalley books this week. I’ve been trying really hard to avoid scrolling through all the newly posted books. I just have so many left to do that I don’t have time for it. However, one author I’ve reviewed previously has reached out to see if I’d review the next book in his series and I couldn’t resist! My review won’t go up until February or March, but I’m really excited to check it out! I also have some other author requests pending, so I’m sure those will be up here next week. So here’s my new book you can look forward to seeing reviews of in 2016!

Stacking the ShelvesI’m still continuing to add to my childhood book collections. One day my collections will be complete. It may take a few years, but I’ll get there.

  1. I’m going to check out your reviews of Pines and Under the Dome. I haven’t read Pines yet, but it’s sitting on my iPad waiting for me haha. And I tried Under the Dome but it was so excruciatingly boring that I DNF it. I ended up googling the plot and was kind of glad I didn’t continue.

Here is my The Sunday Post!

  2. Concussions can be so debilitating, I hope your head clears soon and you feel better. You had some good reads, and I like how you’re collecting childhood favorites. I’ve thought of doing that myself, sounds fun. Have a great week, and happy holidays!

    • Thank you so much! It’s been tough because I’m definitely someone who doesn’t like getting sick or hurt. And if you ever decide to collect old childhood books, I suggest going through Amazon. I get almost all of my books for a penny + s/h.

I hope you have a wonderful week and happy holidays!

  3. You’ve got a lot of posts listed there! And I wish I still had all my Sweet Valley High books. Maybe some day I can live in a house where i have a real library, and then collect them again. A fellow librarian in the district where I work got a concussion, and still has problems with reading things or writing or getting her thoughts out. It’s pretty scary how much concussions can affect your life. Hope things continue to get better for you!

  4. Hope you keep improving and get past this soon!
