So… I may have fibbed in last week’s Sunday Post about not requesting books from the library. I’m a bookworm and we tend to be unable to control our habit of borrowing more books that we can possibly read, right?
Well, you’ll be proud of me because of the twenty-eight (I kid you not) items I picked up yesterday, only eight were books/comics for me. I know that doesn’t sound much better. But I promise you, it’s actually an improvement. One of the books is the next Goosebumps book for my son and I to read together. Four are the next couple of Buffy comics, which I read fairly quickly. So that leads only two real books for me to read and a movie. See, I can do Common Core math, too. Just kidding. My friends from work will understand that reference, even if no one else does.
This week’s library loot includes:
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Predators and Prey by Joss Whedon
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Retreat by Joss Whedon
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Twilight by Joss Whedon
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Last Gleaming by Joss Whedon
- Goosebumps: Monster Blood by R.L. Stine
- Fear Street: Don’t Stay Up Late by R.L. Stine
- Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge
- Far From the Madding Crowd (DVD)
But what about the other twenty items?
In honor of Goosebumps coming out, I thought it would be fun for my son and I to have a Goosebumps movie marathon this weekend. Little did I realize exactly how many DVDs/episodes there were for the series. Even when I was requesting them, it didn’t dawn on me, because the process takes all of two seconds. But here’s the stats: 20 DVDs (with another one still on the way) which has 46 episodes on them and it should take us a few minutes shy of 20 hours to watch them all (not counting bathroom breaks, sleeping, etc.) Maybe I over did it? Yeah, I kind of over did it. But for me, this is my quality time with my son. The hours I work during the week only allow me to see him for thirty minutes every morning and then after I pick him up from daycare at night, he goes straight to bed. In the end, it kind of works out, because he has Monday off and we can kind of divide all the DVDs up between the three days.
There’s only one problem with this plan… My library is having a sale on Monday… I’m already planning on being there at 9 AM sharp. I definitely foresee more books on my shelves after this next week. May the book gods help me. I’m going to be swimming in books.
What did you pick up from the library this week? Or what are you planning on putting on hold? Leave me a comment and let me know!
