I was going through some old photos and I came across this one of Cam and I. Of course, Cam’s not as visible as he normally is. But seeing this picture brought back so many conflicting memories.

I was so excited to try my hand at being a mother again. I loved Cameron from the moment I found out I was pregnant. But that time frame was an extremely lonely one. Cameron’s father and I had split up. I was over 1,000 miles away from my family and my friends from high school. Though I had friends on the ship, once you transfer, you quickly begin to lose contact. Add in there being pregnant and not able to drink and you find yourself extremely lonely.

Luckily for me, I had started a second job delivering pizzas at one of the local pizza places and I made friends with the manager and several of the employees. The one I was closest to was Rachel and here, she and I went to see the air show at the Air Force base. It was May of ’06 and I was about 4 weeks away from my due date. I love Rachel and because of her and my other friends from that time period, I was able to have the courage and strength to keep my head up despite everything else.

I can only hope Cameron is blessed enough to have at least a friend like Rachel when he grows up. Then again, this little guy is such a flirt, he might have tons of them. LOL.
